Industrial Applications - Biosimilar and Biobetter

The ContiChrom platform has been proven to be very useful for biosimilar and biobetter product developments.

For Biosimilars, three product/process parameters are important:

• Development of target product specifications as close as possible to the originator drug
• Reducing Project costs by keeping CAPEX and operational costs as low as possible
• Competitive COG for biosimilar product

The ContiChrom platform can optimize all three parameters and is superior to batch chromatography.

For Biobetters, the goal is to develop a 2nd generation product from a successful first generation product approaching patent expiry or more general, to develop a product class that has superior product characteristics than currently marketed products. Often the target product profile with improved product specifications can be changed to generate a new product. Examples in which the ContiChrom technology is useful are:

• PEGylated proteins with higher half-life and better safety profile

• Glycoprotein variants with higher activity and better safety profile

• Bi-specific antibodies with better efficacy and safety profile
