Industrial Applications- Plasma Fractionation

Plasma protein production is severely limited to the amount of available source plasma. Therefore, manufacturing efficiency of the fraction process is very important. The current production processes based on precipitation (e.g. Cohn-process) are very inefficient due to low step yields and purities. Batch chromatography cannot be used in most applications due to large volume processivity constraints. Affinity chromatography is expensive and selective only for single species. ContiChrom overcomes all these limitations, providing the opportunity to process large volumes and simultaneously fractionate plasma proteins with high selectivity and yield. It is therefore an ideal tool to optimize the COG for plasma products and to reduce CAPEX due to the lower footprint of ContiChrom equipment and auxiliary process equipment.

Examples of purification problems which have proven to be particularly suitable for the MCSGP-process is given below:

•  IVIGs

•  Hyperimmunes

•  Alpha-1 antitrypsin

•  Anti-venom

•  Blood proteom
